One stroke is counted each time the disc is thrown, and when a penalty is incurred. The winner is the golfer with the lowest score. Tee throws must be completed within the designated tee areas. Beginners should always use "short" tees, when provided. After teeing off, the player whose disc is farthest from the hole always throws first. The player with the least amount of strokes on the previous hole is first to tee-off on the next hole.
Fairway throws must be made with the foot closest to the hole on the front edge of the lie where the last throw landed. The other foot may be no closer to the hole than the foot on this lie. A run-up and normal follow-through, after release, is allowed more than 10 meters from the hole. Inside 10 meters, a player may not step past the point of his lie until after the disc thrown has landed. A disc that comes to rest inside the Disc Pole Hole basket or chains constitutes successful completion of that hole.
A disc that comes to rest more than 2 meters above the ground is considered unplayable. The disc must be thrown from the ground directly below the disc. A throw that lands out-of-bounds must be played from the point where the disc went out-of-bounds.
Water, roads, pavilions and walkways are normal disc golf out-of-bounds hazards. Never throw until the players ahead of you are out of range, and until the fairway is completely clear of spectators and park guests. Enjoy the game of Disc Golf! It's fun We have seen other sea life here too.. We usually get to the beach several times per month during the summer.
However, we have only been once this season; in the beginning of June during the pandemic. The beach was NOT crowded while we were there and most people were social distancing.
At that time, masks were NOT required on the beaches. Overall, a nice beach for those seeking to relax with their family. Not a good beach for surfing, boogie boarding or playing in waves. I would recommend for families with small children or elderly family members. Karen M Mountville, PA 31 contributions. We decided to go to this beach because time was limited, traffic was heavy and we were under the impression it was a free beach.
No one mentioned the very high rates to park and the uncooperative parking meters that overcharged me by a lot. This is on the bay side of Lewes, so it's really not a 'walking' beach, which is what we wanted. It's actually very hard to walk on. Probably good for swimming.
Also for all that price to park, could not find a single foot wash. Will not return. HappycuriousWanderer Haymarket, VA contributions. Family Friendly, Including Dogs. Tucked behind Cape Henlopen at the mouth of the Delaware bay, the waters are pretty calm on the shore here, which makes it a good place for kids and dogs alike. I visited at 7 this Friday morning with my husband and dog, and there were maybe 10 cars in the parking lot.
Good beach on the bay. Lewes beach is a nice bayside beach but parking is seriously limited and pricey. If you want to swim in the bay then consider Roosevelt's inlet where parking is free and they have nice bathrooms although they're portable.
The best is in Cape Henlopen by their fishing pier It is much nicer with real restrooms and a snack shack. Parking is free and it's a really nice beach. You can rent kayaks and SUP's there. Amazing bay beach. Lovely small beach. You must use your license plate in a central meter which takes coins, credit card or pay mobile app. They are serious about paying!
This is how they get revenue for the town so don't forget to pay. Ok enough of that. The ocean is the bay. No waves so it is perfect for small children to play. The sand is pretty easy to walk on and they do have mats to assist people who have gait issues. The bathrooms, showers were fairly clean. They also have a small concessions stand. Prices were average for the area. We had a lovely day at the beach with a constant breeze. We will return! LewesProf Lewes, DE 34 contributions. Bay Beach Great for Little Ones.
